Accountfully believes people are greater than numbers, and we are on a mission to prove it. We enjoy featuring our eclectic employees with a spotlight that shows the world a bit more about them behind the outsourced accounting scenes.
It’s time to get to know one of our Accounting Directors, Aubrey Schmidt. She brings an impressive combination of accounting and athletic talents to the table. Whether it’s conquering a triathlon or leading our “Mega-pod”, we can count on her to do the job!
Aubrey is an Accounting Director that works from the Charleston office. She is a CPA, and grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois in a small suburb named Lily Lake.
Aubrey holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accountancy from the University of Illinois. It was her love of numbers that sparked her interest.
“I've always loved math, but didn't know what to do with that to make a living besides becoming a math teacher which didn't sound like exactly what I wanted to do. Then I took an Intro to Accounting class in high school and loved it.
"I declared accounting as my major from day one of college and have felt confident I picked the right major since then!”
For a brief time, Aubrey was a hostess and a waitress at a small restaurant in high school.
Going to the gym, playing Volleyball, or just relaxing on the couch with my husband.
Playing a major role in implementing pods at Accountfully. Currently, Aubrey holds the job of leading our biggest pod, referred to as the Mega-Pod.
“This was a complete change in the recurring team structure, but one I think was necessary and is so great for the future of the firm.”
For the readers wondering, what are these pods you speak of? Accountfully's unique "pod" system allows for better client service delivery, by expanding the client work across more team members. It has improved efficiencies internally and enhanced client support by providing access to a wider base of accounting knowledge and expertise. Each pod is comprised of multiple team members at various levels, from staff to manager. Aubrey led this initiative and organized the overall changeover and implementation in 2022. This was not an easy task and she excelled in it!
“I love working with a variety of clients and learning new things constantly.”
No matter how many times I watch it, Friends always makes me laugh out loud. I'm also a big fan of the stand-up comedian, Jim Gaffigan. Thankfully I also come from a very humorous family so we're always making each other laugh.
In the past couple of years, I've done Karaoke a few times, thanks to some friends who host karaoke pop-up nights around Charleston.
My go-to song is "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood because I sang it in my first grade talent show.
The Victorian Era just because I love the look of houses from that period. I would never survive without air conditioning so it'd be a short visit, but would still be cool nonetheless.
"Aubs" is what most of my friends called me growing up.
Some kind of bird because the idea of flying sounds fun.
I love to travel! My husband and I have been to lots of places around the world and I'm always looking for what's next. I'm really into sports and all things involving physical activity. I'm super close with my family especially my three siblings and have the best husband! I have a dog, two cats, and two snakes as pets and they're lovely. (Snakes are not my favorite, but my husband loves snakes and I love my husband).
