Employee Spotlight: Victoria Neves

Accountfully believes people are greater than numbers, and we are on a mission to prove it.  We enjoy featuring our eclectic employees with a spotlight that shows the world a bit more about them behind the accounting scenes.  This spotlight takes us behind the scenes of our always-busy tax department, as we get to know Victoria Neves, a Staff Tax Accountant working remotely from Vernon, Connecticut.

Victoria is a wide-ranging hobbyist who can be found cheering on the New York Rangers as a die-hard fan, or simply kicking back and practicing her burgeoning embroidery skills alongside her Grandma.

Let’s get to know a bit more about our Connecticut-ian, Victoria, shall we?

Victoria’s Role at Accountfully

Victoria is an essential part of our ever-growing and busy tax team.  She is passionate about preparing quality tax returns for our clients; whether that is a personal or business return, or both.

“I prepare tax returns for business and individual clients while providing supporting work papers. I conduct complex and general research on tax compliance as well as impromptu client issues with my team. Additionally, I support tax managers and seniors on additional out-of-scope tax projects.”

With Victoria’s detailed research and execution, you can expect your taxes to be in great hands!

How Victoria Became an Accountant

Growing up in Derby, CT, and reaching the end of her high school career, Victoria dabbled in an Intro to Accounting course, and it clicked.  Once she focused on tax, the deal was sealed.  She was to become a Tax Accountant.

“I took an Intro to Accounting college course in my senior year of high school and instantly knew that I wanted to be an Accountant. I then knew that I wanted to go into Taxation in my first year of my MBA degree after obtaining my second internship.”

Victoria graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Major in Business Administration, with a Concentration in Accounting.  She then obtained an MBA from the same university in Finance.

First Job

While Victoria is well versed in all things accounting, her first job was more of a party gig, than a numbers gig.  She was a Party Host at a Trampoline Park in her home state.

Working as part of Accountfully’s Tax Team has made Victoria even better at business tax returns.

“When I started at Accountfully, I was more familiar with Individual tax returns versus business tax returns. I worked hard with my team and took detailed notes on the business tax returns I prepped in the off season, and I now see great growth in my abilities to prepare a business tax return from start to finish.”

Favorite Part of Working at Accountfully

Accountfully’s Tax team is a tight-knit crew.  They call themselves the Tax Squad, and for good reason.  They work very closely together as a supportive, cohesive unit.  That, and the Accountfully culture as a whole, is what stands out for Victoria.

“My favorite part of working for Accountfully is by far the culture and my fellow coworkers."

She continues, "In the tax team alone, there is a tremendous amount of encouragement and support. We are all close and truly enjoy each other's time, sharing new information, and helping out when needed. That grew into Accountfully as a whole when I was able to be a part of the Fall Event and saw how much Accountfully management really cares about their employee’s well being, culture, and growth in the company.”

What Makes Victoria Laugh the Most

“My boyfriend, family, and friends. There is never a dull moment at any family function or outing.”

Karaoke Song

Cue up some classic 80’s Pop if you are attending Karaoke night with Victoria.  Her pick is “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.  Chances are, that song is also in your head right now.

Where She’s Headed in a Time Machine

“If I could travel back in time, I would travel to the 90s. I love to look at old pictures of my parents and family growing up. I loved the fashion and the hair in the 90s.”
