Each year the entire Accountfully team gathers at our headquarters in Charleston to stay connected, strengthen our workplace bond, and celebrate the year’s hard work. It’s safe to say, a team that works as hard as we do, needs some time to play just as hard. This year was extra special, as it made for quite a few new introductions. Most of our remote team met their colleagues in person for the first time during the event. Surprisingly, the coordination of almost 75 people flying across the country at the same time only resulted in one minor travel delay. Even the weather treated us kindly! The temperature was cooler, there was less humidity, and we avoided the arrival of Hurricane Ian by a week. Here is a recap of what we did and how it all went down.
Thursday started with each team member having a healthy boxed lunch of their choice and some much needed mingling and in-person teamwork. We also distributed our beach themed swag to all who arrived. Since our tenth anniversary rebrand and new color palette arrived, the designs were super fun and fresh, with lots of colors at play. Each team member received a beach towel, t-shirt, and athletic hat in a sustainable grass beach bag.
That evening, we met at Shem Creek to board the Palmetto Breeze for a catered sunset cruise. This was the perfect way to experience the beauty of Charleston. We took advantage of that perfect lighting with lots of sunset group pictures! Once we docked, the party continued to Red’s Icehouse, also on the water.
Friday was our big team building day. This was not your typical team building, however. We met at Marion Square in downtown Charleston to embark on a challenging and fun scavenger hunt downtown. Each team had their own team name and followed an App that gave instructions for various challenges with a point value attached to it. The team with the most points wins. Simple and fun. Thankfully, the weather was unseasonably cool for the active two hour adventure. It was a great way to get some exercise, socialize, and explore downtown Charleston up close.
The team met at ShareHouse downtown to hear the winners announced and see all of the fun pictures and videos captured from the event. Classic southern style foods like mini waffles and chicken, biscuits, and fried Mac and Cheese capped off a great day of camaraderie and fun!
After all of the festivities of the Fall Event, it is safe to say we have recharged our team bond and brought a strengthened sense of community to the Accountfully workplace. While we are all used to remote interactions between team members and the two offices, it can never replace that face time we enjoy so much. Our growing team truly enjoyed the two days of celebration and interaction, and we are already looking forward to the next get together.
