Accountfully is a great place to work! We have a unique culture that lends itself to collaboration, communication, and (as a result) more productive employees. It was hard, but we narrowed things down to five key features that really make our culture stand out.

Accountfully work culture

One: Communication Is Key

Communication is paramount in any industry or company. Accountfully is no different in putting a huge focus on this key aspect of operations. Our two founders, Brad and Meredith Ebenhoeh are a part of the daily work environment and openly collaborate, support, and communicate with the team. Knowing that employees are heard and understood are major parts of the Accountfully communication focus, and we offer a few key tools to help keep this communication flowing properly; a newsletter, quarterly meetings, and a mentorship program, to name a few.

The Newsletter: We have a monthly newsletter that our team actually enjoys reading. Ours is called the Month End (cool accounting reference, huh?) and it is an on-brand, nicely laid out internal publication. Inside, we share things like health tips, employee spotlights, obscure monthly holidays, and employee recognition.

Recurring Meetings: An attractive, helpful newsletter isn't the only thing we use to communicate internally. Accountfully is big on communication and transparency as a general rule. In addition to the monthly newsletter, we hold quarterly town hall meetings that involve the entire company and address the large strategic initiatives. We also hold monthly training sessions that are hosted by our internal subject matter experts. These topics can range from 1099’s to client onboarding to inventory. These meetings keep everyone on the same page, feeling heard, and appreciated.

Mentorship Program: With a company full of unique subject matter experts, it seems like the right thing to do is allow our team members to collaborate and learn from each other. This is a great way for coworkers to join forces and learn new things from each other.

Two: We Give Back to Our Community

Charleston and Nashville are awesome communities, full of up and coming artists, businesses and causes. Accountfully stays dialed in and actively tries to give back and partner with local causes each quarter. Recently, the team helped build raised garden beds for the Green Heart Project in Charleston. Last year, we helped Be A Blessing Outreach, which provides food, clothes, and job resources for the homeless, underserved, poverty stricken and veterans in crisis.

In addition to the team flexing their volunteering muscle from time to time, our leadership team is often involved in community events that help other local businesses. Managing partner, Brad Ebenhoeh is often lending his talents and advice to workshops, podcasts and webinars to discuss accounting and operations subjects with other businesses. Earlier in 2020, Brad spoke at the Redux Art Center as part of their Studio Seminars Series. He presented tips and concepts to help digital agencies understand how they should be organizing their accounting and bookkeeping, whether it be a new side gig, or an established full time endeavor.

Three: Employee Wellness is a Top Priority

In addition to offering quarterly wellness activities and opportunities, we also focus on what is important to keeping our employees healthy and happy. We offer a very comprehensive benefits package to our full time employees which include medical, dental, vision as well as unlimited paid time off. We also have some creative and fun ways to spread wellness love, like our very own cookbook.

The Cookbook: This year, we developed a cookbook from scratch, and it is not only nice to look at and easy to read, the recipes are really delicious. Inside are dishes from more classic, comfort foods like burgers and Lasagna, to super food allergy friendly desserts, like Accountfully co-founder Meredith Ebenhoeh’s vegan strawberry cheesecake.

Late afternoon slump

Cold Brew on Tap: This probably should have been an additional numbered fact, but since it goes in the food and beverage category, we’ll throw it out there: we have Nitro cold brew coffee. On tap. In the office. We also have custom Accountfully glasses that are specifically designed for drinking said cold brew. That’s how serious we are about our coffee. It also comes from a super cool local Charleston company, called RipTide Coffee, so we’re supporting our local small biz neighbors too.

Three: We Have a Comfortable And Contemporary Work Environment

We may be an Inc. 5000 fastest growing company but it is important to note that Accountfully has a family-like, intimate work environment of under 60 employees, which lends itself to better collaboration and (that all important) communication. It also helps that both Charleston and Nashville offices are modern, open, bright and airy. No tortuous, cubicle mazes bathed in fluorescent lighting are found here. Since we are close to paperless, there is no unnecessary paper clutter stacking up on desks, in offices, or walls of filing cabinets. We use Mac laptops for our work, so you can venture off from your desk for some work time, or stay put at your desk; whether it be sitting or standing.

Four: We Have Fun At Work

This phrase gets used a lot for companies describing themselves as modern, new, and exciting, but the proof is in the activities. Allow us to tell you a few ways we like to have fun at work; from happy hours, to company-wide picnics, to holiday parties.

Quarterly Happy Hours: Each quarter, Accountfully hosts a happy hour and the team actually looks forward to getting together outside of the office. Sounds crazy, right? You know we are doing something right when the team actually wants to hang out, outside of work hours. Plus, we are known to hit up some really awesome local restaurants, or pull out the custom Accountfully Cornhole boards for an intense game in the back of the Charleston office.

Annual Company Picnic: Bring the kids and enjoy a day with the team. Each year, Accountfully holds a company picnic that is open to employees and their families. It’s a great way to relax in a casual environment, enjoy good food, and meet the families behind the coworkers.

Annual Company Party: Each year, Accountfully celebrates the team’s hard work with a nice dinner and get together. It's typically toward the end of the year during the Holiday Season and makes for another wonderful evening of conversation with coworkers, more great food, atmosphere, and holiday cheer.

Are You Sold Yet?

In a nutshell, Accountfully is the opposite of what the typical accounting firm is; close to paperless, appropriate work life balance, and open communication at the forefront of our daily operations.
